Happy Halloween... scary, huh?

Why don't we get cool night sky stuff like this?

Paul Schneider, executive creative director in the Chicago office of Digital Kitchen, was a suprisingly bad public speaker. But I guess the work speaks for itself...

iPod/iTunes scared the cat back into existence. Napster returns with it's own butt ugly companion Samsung player.

Awwwwwwwwwwww yeah... you knew this was coming...

Lots of soggy bloggy goodnesss today, kids... because even second graders are putting up blogs. Better than mine. Crap.

MoMA revamped their logo... but can anybody tell the difference?

Cool minimalist comic by talented illustrator Chris Bishop. Dig the subtle Clockwork Orange costume in the Halloween strip...

Chris Cunningham's work is soon to be released on DVD... along with Spike Jonze and Michael Gondry... via Directors Label. Check it.

Quite a solar storm we're having...

I'll be at that Digital Kitchen thing tonite.

It's time once again to chunk pumpkins.

Candy has been purchased, a red bulb has been placed in the lamp outside the door, and my somewhat of a cop-out costume is complete. Time for trick-or-treating!

Happy Monday.

Over the weekend Kendra brought to my attention this incredibly kickass "Go with the Flow" video by Queens of the Stone Age... after a little searching I found it was the geniuses at Shynola (who also brought you the Junior Senior video for "Move Your Feet") who were behind it... motion capture, rendered in Maya, and heaps of style. Watch it, and be amazed.

BTW, Junior Senior will be playing with my boys the Inmen at the North Star this Halloween weekend... now THAT is gonna be a show...

I was unawares that you can submit your blog to Daypop, Blogdex, & Popdex. Let's see if it points more traffic towards this silly little site...

I was also unawares that Blogspot & Blogger are old & busted. Apparently the new thing is Movable Type... better because it costs moolah. Hmmm... will have to do more research...

Last night, Ortlieb's Jazzhouse. Sid Simmons Quartet playing the music of Dizzy Gillespie. It really doesn't get much better than that.

Congrats to Brian Hogan on his recent acquisition of an incredible '65 Ford Falcon Ranchero. Best of luck.

BTW Dick Dale was by far the best choice for the first song to be played in the new (old!) car...

It's snowing outside.

Sweet.

Ladybug invasion! They're everywhere at work today, crawling on the exterior walls and doors, and slowly making their way inside... I had one in my hair after I came in from lunch. Good luck, I'm told. Story goes like this: in medieval Europe, insects were destroying the crops, so Catholic farmers prayed to the Virgin Mary for help.  Little beetles came and ate the plant-destroying pests, saving the crops. Farmers began calling the bugs "The Beetles of Our Lady", and they eventually became known as "Lady Beetles" and ladybugs today. The red wings represented the Virgin's cloak and the black spots represented her joys and sorrows.

Good reading from fellow Drexel escapees:

New and useful word coined at lunch today by our very own Brian Hogan:

importantless (adj) : something that is originally unbelievably important and urgent, but that, once finished and/or after considerable time and effort has been given to it, is disregarded, forgotten and put aside, making the entire exercise ultimately pointless.

Use it in a sentence today. I already have, as it pretty accurately describes everything I do 9 to 5.

Yesterday's autocross was a blast! The RTR guys were all incredibly nice and friendly. Thanks to Otto's for bringing their some Coopers, their race cars, some MINI swag and for also helping get this thing organized. Also big thanks to Jeff for instructing me... it paid off! I didn't quite get down to a 43 second time (I think my best was either 44 or 46 seconds) but it was enough to snag 2nd!!!! Ribbon and all!!! I'll try to post my official times when they become available...

I threw together a page with some pictures of the day taken by my girlfriend Kendra. Good old Photoshop automation. Take a look here.

Also, official photos have been posted on the PDA site of me going around the track at Pocono 2 weeks ago... Take a look here and here.

Happy birthday Mr. Tom Petty.

EXTREME PUMPKINS!

Bigger, badder, better, faster, stronger, Poisoned.

The Izza went to see Interpol last night at the Electric Factory. Lucky bastard.

Matrix Revolutions trailer out now.

OMG, how did I miss this? Sign the petition to get the Star Wars Kid in Episode III!

Friendster is going to start charging as of November 4th, which means half or more of the people on the site will leave. So for all you people who are going to have serious Friendster withdrawal, there's myspace.com which is similar to Friendster, faster and still free.

Hey Vanessa, happy 6 months @ L&N... I am so sorry to have gotten you into this!

Happy Columbus Day. Happy Pet Peeve Week as well.

So much this weekend. Exhausted.

Track day on Saturday with PDA at Pocono Speedway, east course. Bikes were on the north course, and Bertil Roos open-wheel school cars on the south course. The sound was awesome. Camera was going dead, so not too many photos. Here are some, although not of my MINI... I was #52. I took about four runs with an instructor, improving dramatically every time. Got a little flustered after a spec racer passed me on the inside unallowed in the turn at the end of the straight, so that session was a little rough... but I learned how to deal with disruptions in line and concentration from that. Rode in my instructor's 944 for a few laps and really got a handle on things. The last run I was on my own, and was really tearing it up by then... had gotten a rhythm, was getting really smooth. Tires did suprisingly well, no broken bits, the weather was wonderful, the people were all extremely nice (especially Frank (my instructor) and Mark and Andreas (other novices)). I didn't spin out, tap the wall or end up in the weeds like I feared. Cannot wait to do it again. All I need is a helmet that fits (BTW thanks Brian for letting me use yours, even if it did squeeze my overly large noggin a bit!)...

This Sunday was the Cape May Lighthouse MINI tour... this time left the camera at home in the rush to leave. Here are a bunch of pics from Scott, another enthusiast on the run... Here are some more... the run was fun, but after the excitement of Saturday, Jersey and Delaware didn't quite cut it... should have stayed for the second PDA track day on the north course... o well...

Next Sunday, autocross! This time though, it's in my neck of the woods, so I won't be getting up at 4 in the morning...

I used to hate crappy drugstore Halloween costumes like this... no, wait, I still do...

Quentin rocks. Get your butt to the movies.

Feeling broken, @ home today...

Speaking of broken things, I found this site through my friend Mo... maybe I should submit my place of work...

Anyways, I did manage to add some photography and other things to the site...

Just joined Friendster and MySpace (hi Monica and Sue!) to see what all the hubbub was about... I'm already on Ryze, but haven't explored really...

Carib is some mighty tasty beer... like Corona, to be enjoyed with a wedge of lime or lemon, but with a much better finish... I'll have to check to see if the Foodery carries some... love that place. 550 beers available. Till 11pm. Every day, I think. Nice. Speaking of beer, lookey here at this site. Burp. Skyoozme.

Played some pool with Kendra last night. At Buffalo Billiards, which I was bummed to find is a chain. Hate giving money to cookie-cutters, especially with all the other cool places in Phila. But River City Billiards in Manayunk is closed, there's only one small table at the New Wave Cafe, W&J/MOI only has two overcrowded ones, and Tattooed Mom's is, well, dirty. So that doesn't leave much. Anyways, I can make those tough shots, but the easy ones... well, that's another story. The moral of that story is that I suck. Probably has something to do with my disgust for all things mathematical...

Go get your Photo of the Day.

Brian Hogan is squirrely.

Hooray! Jeff and Karla are moving back east... right next door to Jeff's old apartment!

Cool Dub stuff: thesamba.com.

Disturbing, but honest, stuff was blogged here.

Looking for a modern table that isn't from IKEA and doesn't cost over a grand. That means nothing country home, nothing black laquer and gold, and nothing in faux white wood finish. Not easy.

BTW, ever wonder where IKEA names come from? Find out here.

Dutch retailer Mexx (think H&M) just opened their first American store in NYC. No doubt they'll be everywhere soon enough, selling more generic coolness that fits no one.

Speaking of generic coolness, I just opened an online store (!) soon to be selling promo tee shirts and messenger bags and other crap. Via CafePress.com... it's a pretty cool concept. I'll probably use it to get promo stuff printed for myself on the cheap, but I may put up some other interesting stuff when I get around to it. Nothing there yet, but the link is cafeshops.com/lawrenceotoole. Stay tuned...

Happy October everyone...

And happy bday Anne...

INMEN (formerly the Inflatable Men) launched their new site. Give props to Fisher and the boys here...

Wheels TV, an upcoming cable channel that plans to launch in the first quarter of 2004, will air original and acquired programming on cars, trucks and motorcycles. They claim to be the first ever 24/7 automotive channel... what about Speed? Unlike the Speed Channel, it will not focus on racing. I just wish I had Speed... even if 3/4 of the programming is friggin' NASCAR... somethin is better than nuthin!
