Today is my 3rd anniversary with the wonderful L&N Sales and Marketing. Sigh. However, I did recieve word that this week my “Original Scrunchie” logo will be officially registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office...

Is MickeyDee’s goin’ veggie? At the recently revamped McDonald’s on the Strand in London, the Salad Plus menu is emphasized alongside the regular menu, and vegetarian options like Quorn products are also offered. The traditional plastic chairs and tables are traded for soft sofas and Corbusier-style chrome and leather chairs and bar stools. I still remember those uncomfrotable swiveling orange molded plastic chairs that were bolted to the table... Times, they are a’changing... (via TrendCentral)

Happy TV Turnoff Week!
This weekend is the Hot Rod Hoedown at Kahunaville in Delware...
I think this is where Nissan got their idea for that wierd Skyview Roof...
QM2 arrives in NYC for the first time...
Check out Volvo’s YCC... designed by a team of eight female engineers and marketers with the female driver in mind. Drivers receive custom comfort through still-in-development “Ergovision” technology: the driver’s body would be scanned at the dealership and the information stored on a key fob. When the key is entered into the ignition, the seats, pedals, steering wheel, mirrors and headrest (with space for a ponytail) would change accordingly. GPS, stereo, and mobile phone dialing are all voice activated. There are various storage compartments for everything from sunglasses to a laptop computer, and buyers can choose from eight varieties of colors and textures for the seat covers. Although the YCC was designed with women in mind, the innovations clearly benefit both male and female drivers. Because women influence more than 80% of all car purchases and they purchase more than 50% of all new vehicles, it seems that Volvo is heading in the right direction. (via TrendCentral)

Some helpful OSX tips and tricks, via a Delaware Computer Exchange email:
Rebooting without the Restarting
OS X starting to act a little weird? Feeling like you should reboot the computer, but don't want to wait for a complete restart? No problem, in many cases you can get the "cleansing" benefit of a restart just by logging out and then back in. Just go to the Apple menu and choose the "Log Out" command.
Ooops! Didn't Mean to Drag That File...
Next time you discover you selected the wrong file, or are inadvertantly moving an icon that you meant to leave alone, here's a quick fix: You can just move your cursor to the very top of your screen, above the menu bar and let go. The file(s) will magically drop back to where they started. Another approach is to hit your Escape key during the dragging action - that will cancel the move.
Don't Wait for That Page to Load!
Tired of clicking Web page links, waiting for the page to load, and then using the Back Button to try something else? In most Mac Web Browsers you can make a clicked link open in a new, separate window by holding down the Command key as you click. Then by leveraging the Command + ~ trick to flip windows, you can go back to reading pages that are loaded while you wait for others to become available.
Reducing Screen Clutter
There are several ways to reduce screen clutter when switching applications. If you Command + Option click an application's icon in Dock, you'll hide all applications except the one you clicked on. If you Command + Option click on the desktop (or a window in another application) you'll switch to the desktop/application and hide all others. If you want to temporarily hide all open document windows except for the ones in the program you are currently working in, just use the keyboard shortcut Command + Option + H. This will invoke the "hide others" command that used to reside under the application menu in previous versions of the Mac OS.
Fast Switching Back and Forth Between Applications
If you are in the middle of a repetitive back and forth transfer of data between two programs (perhaps copying and pasting various segments of text from Word into a graphics application), try the Command + Tab key shortcut. This shortcut will take you to the last application you accessed, do it again and you'll be back to the one you started from.
Dock Positioning Shortcuts
You don't need to go to the Apple menu to control where the dock is located. Control-clicking the Dock's dividing line will bring up a contextual menu with right, left or bottom options. Also you can manually drag the Dock by Shift-clicking the divider.

So Chris Bangle has been “promoted” to the newly created post of Director of BMW Group Design, an executive position distanced from the design floor. All the grumblings must have been heard... I, for one, don’t necessarily dislike the ideas behind his aesthetic. I just don’t think they are necessarily well-executed across the entire line. While I only somewhat like the Z4, I really dig the new 6 Series; but when spread across the entire line, I don’t think it works overall. I applaud forward-thinking, design that pushes the envelope, but I still think it needs to be rooted in function and reality. Difficult position to be in, leading design of a luxury marque that is at once technologically superior yet rooted in tradition. His shoes must not be ones that are comfortable to be in...
Anyways, a few new tweaks to the site... added a section to "stuff" about my new bike, as well as added a link from "spinning" that lists the contents of my iPod for the times when the iPod is on random (which it usually is). To think I can listen to 10 days, 6 hours, 14 minutes and 48 seconds of uninterrupted music and never hear the same song twice... brilliant! I know, useless, but neat, in a geeky sort of way. Also managed to do something useful, cleaned some things up a bit and got pages working decently across browsers.

Interesting news on the new engines to come in the next generation MINIs...
At the close of the fiscal 2004 second quarter, Apple posted a 29% increase in net profit, a 5% increase in CPU units and a whopping 909% increase in iPod sales. Now, iPods are outselling Macs. Amazing.
