Tyler Durden: Do you know what a "duvet" is?
Narrator: It's a comforter...
Tyler Durden: It's a blanket. Just a blanket.
Narrator: Well, for blankets, these are pretty damn cool...
World's first production electric sports car... see, not everything green has to look or perform terribly!
Wha...?
Happy birthday Russ!
Admit it, even though you know it’s totally bogus, you’ve been dying to actually hear what that breast-enlarging ringtone they’ve been selling in Japan sounds like, right? Well, then, check it out here (but please use responsibly!)
Shamrocking, well, rocks!
There's a new placement agency in Philly that specializes in freelancers/contract/p-t projects. They're called CM ACCESS, and they're on Market Street. Check them out here.
Insane cut-away illustration.
They killed Brawny-man!

Happy birthday Sue! (I think...)
I guess I am a hipster... I mean, I do know where the latest Real World was shot, and I know who Blonde Redhead is. I thought i was a metrosexual (I still think I am, sorta), but I guess that's out since I don't now/never did have a faux hawk. Been working on a pompadour, but that's like so early-90s, or mid-40s, or eighteenth-century, or so futuristic it's hot, depending on whom you ask. Messy-head it is for now - not because it's in style, but because that's all gravity, genetics and product will allow.

After work tonight, I was quietly promoted to Senior Art Director here at Scunci International. Took three years, but I've finally taken an acutal step forward in my career since making art director way back in 2000.
Happy birthday Ray Charles.
Quite possibly the largest (and most terriblest) LV bag... only slightly larger than most women in Philly carry.
Check out these mini cases...

Looks like I'll be taking delivery of the new MINI tonight!!!!! Can't wait!!!!
Along the same lines, I came across a slightly scary concept MINI...Seems to me most likely that MINI is trying out far-fetched design ideas and gathering reaction - look past the glaring problems at the overal picture:
PROS:
The huge wheel arches are fantastic. The roof is lower, looks chopped even, and is quite sporty. I really like the front brake ducts and reworked hood scoop (looks designed-in, not frenched-in later). The grille is finally much bigger - I think this is more appropriate, as the huge grilles on Minis were such a dominant and recognizable styling cue, one that isn't well-represented on current cars. The integrated rally light bar, while most liekly would be an accessory, is very well-executed.
CONS:
The headlamp cowls aren't working, and are unfortunate. Why do the lamps float? Why so angular? Also, the rear roofline doesn't seem resolved, either - why does arc downward so severely, then abruptly end? Why does it protrude? Also, it seems like the rear glass is making it's way up onto the roof... not sure what that's about...
The 3D rendering looks a bit tamer, and more realistic (ever see the clay models of the current MINIs? Same slightly cartoonish proportions).
Without seeing any other view angles, it's hard to say, but if you can get past the sagging roof and the headlamps/eyesockets, it might actually be a well-done evolutionary step. IMHO.
Cute, but creepy lamp.

MINI numero two is at the dealership! More to come...
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse than XLT and SUT, along comes news of this horror. 21-1/2 feet long, 9 feet high, 6 miles per gallon of diesel, and goes for $115,000 fully loaded. At least other nonsensical SUVs are somewhat attractive... Possibly too much truck? Yes. Possibly butt-ass ugly? Definitely. Ugh.

Happy 6th birthday to Google.
Cool concept - oversized yellow arrow stickers are distributed at various events such as concerts, gallery openings etc. Each sticker features an alpha-numeric code. Participants sticker the arrows on anything and everything (pointing onlookers towards a specific place/object) as a means to share opinions, tips and trivia to passersby. When an arrow is spotted, passersby can text the code to Yellowarrow, and then receive a text back, with an explanation for that particular sticker. There are plans to expand to San Francisco and LA this fall, with Philly probably never.

Franz Ferdinand's video for "Take Me Out" is quite spectacular - it's like all of Dadaism rocking out. Won some "breakthrough" award from MTV...
Thanks to Monica for sending me the site of onionflats, the architecture firm that built the onionflats Capital Flats in my neighborhood.
