Happy Halloween!
Hey Lou, Anthony and Rob - great running into you guys last night at the Bridge... man, it's been a long time... lon glive the South Philly Bus!
A photo of my old MINI (RIP!) was voted into the official 2005 PhillyMINI calendar. Also managed to finally get the log up there on the site, the same one that's now being shown at the Alumni Show (see below).
Happy 32nd anniversay, Mom and Dad!
Listening to the radio in a store the other day, I discovered that the Spooks have a new album, their third. The logo I designed for them, although altered, is still recognizable, although it doesn't function as an ambigram anymore... oh well...
Went to the Alumni Show last night... forgot the camera, of course... but it was good to see what others were up to... I especially liked the mobile made from my entry of business cards! And it was good to finally see some of Monica's Cubist work. I really dug Mark Wills' logo and stationery package for Fancy Pants Press - well done. Thanks to Mark, Sandy and Eric for getting it together.
Wow... Mr. Haring lives only a few short blocks from me!
Absolutely gorgeous imagery.
Hobbits?
Tats for your iPod.
Nice site design, cool filters and imagery here.
Tuning for Dummies.

Every time I spend eating with g, mom, dad, sis, aunt, uncle and lil'cousin (the BAYby)... the stories they tell, have me crying hysterical with laughter. We were talking about Goretti, jailbreak, Eggbert got an egg (?) and all sorts of crazy wonderful things. Been thinking a lot about it lately, how I need to get it all down in some recorded form, bookform or audio, save it for posterity... there's so much culture, so many odd little things about the way things were growing up in South Philly that I need to catch some of it before it escapes... this list was a good motivator.
Vorsprung durch Technik - Audi goes all M.C. Escher with their new spot "Illusions"... you'll definitely have to watch this a few times...
WW2 foxhole radio plans - uses paper clips, razor blades, and pencil lead to pick up radio waves. Neat.
A few weeks ago, I linked to the world's first production electric sports car... well, the tzero is another, more down-to-earth, closer-to-home, and for now claims to be world's fastest electric - the featherweight sprints from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. While it isn't nearly as pretty as the Venturi, it may just be more affordable (if you call "a price somewhere between a Porsche and a Ferrari", or $220,000, affordable)... here's a link to a recent article by Forbes.

The new 60gig Photo and black U2 iPods are here... how dashing would an all-black iPod be? Antipod? (Wait a minute, didn't Jaguar do something like this not too long ago?) Even a black case with the current grey clickwheel would be stunning (here come the case mods)... Heck, even the iTrip, although pretty useless, now matches... but what, pray tell, is this?
Finally, Zara opens in Center City Philly, joining the likes of DWR, Puma, Ubiq, Keihls, H&M and more. Seems like downtown could become a destination again...
Congrats to Brian and Michelle! A great time, a great spot, a great day! Have fun in Europe!
Drexel's WKDU will be featuring 78 straight hours of DJs and electronic artists in its seventh annual Electronic Music Marathon (for which I designed the logo). This year's marathon benefits the Village of Arts & Humanities. It all starts today Thursday, October 21 at 6:00 PM and goes till the end of the day on Sunday. Tune in for sets from Nigel Richards, Dieselboy, Vincent Wonder, Chuck van Zyl, DJ Lorne, Tigerhook, Philly Soul Collective, Tronik, and more! Set your radio dial to 91.7fm if you're in Philly, or catch the online stream. More info available here.
Lee puts it best when he says this Red Bull site is possibly the slickest he's seen... I agree. Wow.
Just what makes a great car?

MickeyDee's to drop golden arches logo in UK in temporary "Change" campaign... and replace with none other than a question mark?!?! Questionable is right. Rebranding a brand whose mark is only slightly less recognizable than Coca-Cola and the crucifix? No matter how temporary the campaign... it just doesn't make a very good statement.

Amusing short about quarreling via IM... interestingly enough using another Wilco song as it's soundtrack...
Honor of all honors... Veer, with whom I consult almost daily for spec images and to check their incredible blog, has recently linked to me... how cool is that! Anyways, I had posted a comment on The Skinny regarding thier discovery of The Conet Project... how after listening to a few tracks I came across one I had heard in the Wilco song "Poor Places" - the sample from which the album title Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is derived. Ken Meier over at Subsystence points me to an article about the very subject.

Congrats to Tracy and Doug! It was good to see all the O'Tooles in one place again...
My modernist prefab will most certainly have a fireorb.

Veer does it again. While appreciating the design and typography of these vintage shortwave radio verification cards, they stumble across The Conet Project. For more than 30 years the shortwave radio spectrum has been used by the world's intelligence agencies to transmit secret messages. This massive collection of recordings of so-called 'shortwave numbers stations' is at once both eerily beautiful and poignantly cryptic. Genuine spy stuff! Individual tracks are free for the taking.

This gallery of toy cars in real parking spaces is wierd, and cool, and I need to take a shot and submit.
