"FRRRRRRESH PARET-ZUHLS!" This morning, I heard a kid yelling it out up and down the street, just like I used to growing up in South Philly. I haven't heard that in fifteen years! I went outside to see if I could find the kid, presuming he was selling pretzels from an old shopping cart or from a milk crate on the front of his bike, and perhaps buy a bag (4 for a dollar?). But by the time I got my act together and got outside I must have missed him. Hopefully kids are back to selling pretzels street-to-street, and not just yelling for yelling's sake. At any rate, it brought back some good memories...

In the illustration Population : One, every pixel represents one person alive on earth. The first pixel is you, the rest is everyone else - all 6.5 billion of them.

Le Mans or Gran Prix?

Thom is amazing.

I'd been there before, but never delved too deeply into ytmnd before... a riot! A big, nerdy riot!

Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello are back. It's like someone stole my childhood toybox and is making everything inside of it a movie.

Another Philly movie coming this summer... 10th and Wolf. A little darker than Invincible, this time it's about Joey Merlino and the South Philly mob war of the late 80s. From the writers of Crash and Million Dollar Baby, the cast is incredibly strong - James Marsden, Giovanni Ribisi, Brad Renfro, Piper Perabo, Dennis Hopper, Lesley Ann Warren, Tommy Lee, Brian Dennehy and Val Kilmer. Wow.

Tesla Motors... finally, an electric car that is neither slow nor dorky-looking. Built by Lotus, 0-60 in 4 seconds, crazy torque, zero emissions. Someone out there gets it.

Speaking of people who get it, read this: how to live happily with a great designer.

It's a video spectacular! Here's The Big Lebowski edited down to only the F-bombs. (Do you have to use so many cuss words?) Then, three cars race against each other but the Fiat and the Modena are both given headstarts against the F1 car - any bets as to the winner? Finally, if you know what this is... 'nuff said.

I just recently rediscovered my love for Chucks, and now Converse is letting you design your own pair. Only leather for right now, but canvas is coming soon...

GameOver is a series of stop animation videos that use people as "pixels" to reenact the classic video games Pong and Space Invaders. Quite a handful to organize, I'm sure, but the end result is really cool.

So far, The Eraser has been everything I anticipated - Pitchfork calls it "glitchy, sour, feminine, brooding, imperfect." Yeah - it's not mind-shattering or earth-moving - but it's a damn good listen, infectious even. It takes the dark, moody electronica of the past couple of Radiohead efforts one step further. Think Amnesiac with a little more head-bopping.

Just like my R5 site, my MINI site was in great need of a graphic overhaul. Much cleaner and incorporating many of the new features I installed in the R5 site, the new site is clean and smooth and ready for your perusal. Let me know what you think!

A guy who loves for all things Back to the Future sought out, visited and photographed every major site used in filming the original movie. Fascinating.

And, for a little more 80's nostaligia, check out Atari's Pole Position commercial... Skidmarks on your soul?

Long overdue, I finally got around to updating my R5 site. The site had become less of a journal of my personal bike and more of a blog about these bikes in general. Plus It's been almost three years, and the design was still based on a simple, no frills theme. So, go check it out and let me know what you think.

PA picks new bumper sticker... I Brake for Shoofly Pie. Seriously.

Coverflow is a nifty application for the Mac that presents a slick, simple interface for browsing your music by album cover, just like the old times of physical CDs! Flip through, select and use the controls to play through iTunes. You can even search for and drag and drop missing album art right from the application. Reminds me of a cool little app called Clutter, which works in a similar way on the desktop, although without all the FrontRow-esque 3D and reflections all the kids are raving about these days.

And speaking of the kids, check out the Graffiti Research Lab and all the sick things those kids are doing with throwies. Throw 'em up high and in quantity to impress your friends and city officials!
